PART 1 — THE FIRE WAS ONE

Chapter 0. From the Author

When I was little, I was certain there was a truth about the world that no one was telling me yet.

Not a conspiracy. Not a secret. Simply — I was still little. I'd grow up, and one of the adults would take me aside, close the door, and say: "Well, Sasha. Now you're ready. Here's how it all really works."

I waited for that conversation. Seriously. I thought that at some point — maybe at sixteen, maybe at twenty — they would reveal what all the adults apparently already knew but were keeping quiet about. Something solemn. Something real. The truth behind the truth.

Then I was sixteen. Then twenty. Then thirty. Nobody called. Nobody closed the door. Nobody said a thing.

Since nobody came — I started gathering it myself. Piece by piece. Life kept throwing me into people who knew something — each their own thing.

The church gave me what no laboratory ever could: a joy that lifts your hands and brings tears for no reason. Inspiration for which there is no formula. I still walk into a charismatic hall when I can — and every time I feel the same thing I felt at twenty.

Science taught me not to take myself at my word. To verify. To ask: "What if I'm wrong?" A harsh gift, uncomfortable, but without it everything else turns into self-deception.

Esotericists — strange, stubborn people whom everyone kicks. Scientists call them charlatans. The church calls them the devil's lackeys. And they walk their own road, searching, making mistakes, searching again. I like their stubbornness. Their enthusiasm. Their willingness to look like fools for the sake of finding something.

All these people shaped me. I didn't outgrow any of them. I didn't leave any of them behind. They all gave me a piece of what I was looking for. But a piece is a piece. And the boy inside was waiting for the whole thing.

I'm past forty, I have my own children, and I'm already that adult from whom answers are expected. And the answer — the whole one, the real one — I still don't have.

And at some point I understood a simple thing. Nobody will tell you. Not because they don't know. But because this isn't the kind of knowledge that can be told. It can only be seen for yourself. And then — perhaps — shown to others. Not explained. Shown.

This book is my attempt.

Not an answer. An attempt to pull back the curtain and look at the world from one more angle. Perhaps from the one someone wanted to point me toward in childhood — but didn't have time. Or couldn't. Or did, and I didn't recognize it.

But behind every door, in every circle, in every book — I recognized the same thing. Something identical. The same heat, the same warmth — just called by different names and explained differently.

This book is not about one door being better than another. And not about doors being unnecessary.

It is about the fact that behind all the doors — there is one Fire.

I never found the adult who would lead me through that door. So I went myself. And I wrote down what I saw. For that boy I once was. And for you — if you recognized him.

Let's go.
