Four Phases of Fire

Co-evolution: each phase forges the substrate for the next. The scale of every new memplex is always the fruit of the previous one's work.

Age of Primordial
Gods
Fire burns openly in small groups — within Dunbar's number (≈150 people, the natural ceiling of stable social bonds). The body is the primary instrument of contact with reality. There is no institutional form yet; ecstasy is a daily norm. The gods are elemental, chthonic, remembered by each body.
Forges for the next phaseThe capacity of many minds to *simultaneously hold one invisible*. Neural synchronization through symbol — the group learned to share an experience of what is not in the physical field of vision. Göbekli Tepe (9,600 BCE) is already a bridge to the temple: ritual precedes civilization.

Age of God-Kings
Fire *gives birth* to the first macro-memplexes — Sumer, Egypt, Crete, Shang-Zhou, the Vedas. From a ritual core grows the temple; from the temple — the state, writing, accounting, the calendar. Civilization is the byproduct of sacred marriage, not the other way around. The king is a living god; the pharaoh is Horus in the flesh.
Forges for the next phaseMillennia of temple practice physically rewire the carrier's brain. Writing externalizes collective memory — for the first time the brain is released from the obligation to hold the entire culture. The freed resource goes into thought-about-thought. The substrate is ready to hold the invisible as more real than the visible.

Age of the One
Word
The forged brain can hold meta-abstraction. The Great Memplexes are born: Ethics, Text, Law, ethical monotheism, Buddhism, Greek philosophy. Logos becomes more important than dance; the letter more important than the body. Fire goes underground — Tantra, Kabbalah, Sufism, Hesychasm.
Forges for the next phaseThe main legacy is the inner observer, capable of standing in a *meta-position* to the memplex itself. For the first time in history a human can see any tradition (including one's own) as a construction rather than as reality. This is the substrate for everything: comparative religion, conscious spiritual practice, the re-examination of any teaching from within. Science, the Enlightenment, secularization — these are only specific applications of that shift.
1700 CE – present · inverse axial age
Age of the Faceless
Titans
The axial memplexes did their job — they forged a carrier of such quality that it became capable of a new synchronization. Not a "crack," but a *success*: on a prepared substrate two branches converge at once. The new Titans (Algorithm, Capital) are post-cultural replicators without a "face," better adapted to current complexity. In parallel — a mass layer of non-religious spirituality: syncretic practices, the psychedelic renaissance, somatic approaches, breathwork, shamanic return, charismatic revival.
Forges for the next phaseWhat exactly — we will see from the living phase. One sign is already here: for the first time in history the substrate is capable of receiving fire *without a memplex-mediator*. This is a qualitatively new configuration that did not exist in any previous phase.
"Fire does not change. What changes is the carrier through which Fire can pass.
Each phase is not the decay of the previous one, but its fruit."

“The Fire does not change. What changes is the Substrate the Fire can pass through. Each phase is not the decline of the one before it — it is its fruit.”

The book itself

31 chapters, one idea

Sexual energy, group context, and altered states of consciousness — the triad that built the first temples, the first gods, and the first civilizations. And that was then systematically destroyed.

The story of a fire that burned long before any religion existed — and is still burning now.

Four ways in

Where to start

Why now

This book is not about history.
It is about the Optics you need right now.

The psychedelic renaissance, the return to the body, the meaning crisis, the mass exodus from the churches, mysticism in Telegram channels, breathwork studios in every major city — these are not scattered events. They are one wave. One phase of the fire — and without Memplex Optics you will never see it whole.
